I have always loved Valentine’s Day since I was a little girl and have always felt that it gets overlooked too much.
You have the big three in the fall and winter with Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, but I believe Valentine’s Day should be tagged on there with them.
It’s just far enough out from Christmas that it misses out on a lot of love.
Not in my house, though, and hopefully not in your’s!
A tiered tray is one of the most versatile decor items to have in your home and makes decorating for every holiday a cake walk.
Just switch out a few items every couple months and voila! Your home is festive in every season.
Use it as the perfect centerpiece for your dining room table or kitchen island, or let it decorate your kitchen countertops to brighten things up a bit.
These Valentines tiered tray ideas will get you excited to start adorning your home with red and pink all over!

1. Classic Gingham

Gingham plaid will never go out of style if you ask me.
One of the best things about it is how versatile it is to any and every season or holiday.
All red gingham makes a great Valentine’s Day print and the perfect jumping off point for designing your VDay tiered tray!
2. Pink and Green

Red is a very loud color and doesn’t fit nicely into everyone’s aesthetic for their home.
Good thing you don’t have to conform to red, but instead can play around with any color palette you prefer!
I’m especially fond of this pink and green themed tiered tray because it feels like it’s welcoming spring into the home as well as celebrating Valentine’s Day.
3. Pretty Pastels
Credit: @pockets.of.sweetness
For those who love ultra feminine and girly decor in their home, consider decking your tiered tray with all different shades of pastel pink!
The best way to do a color drenched palette like this is to include multiple textures and patterns in your design.
The designer of this tray has achieved this by using fabric hearts and garland paired with textured flowers, wooden pieces, and even a touch of lace in the bow.
4. Pops of Red
Credit: @houseonlouisemeadow
This is my favorite way to do red on and around Valentine’s Day in the home.
I love to use color in my designs but in a way that still compliments the rest of my home and existing decor.
A great way to do this is to use a lot of natural textures and colors in your base design, then add a few bright touches of red to infuse your tray with the theme!
5. X’s and O’s
Credit: @apeaceofcreativity
Maybe you don’t want to plan your tray around colors, but instead around a Valentine’s Day motif like X’s and O’s!
Having a motif to follow will give you a lot of direction when it comes to shopping for items on your tiered tray.
At stores like Home Goods or TJ Maxx where you have every possible color and pattern at your fingertips, avoid paralysis by knowing to look for one singular motif to build your decor around.
6. Love Birds

If you’re a thrift and antique shopper like me, then you probably have a lot of trinket style items for holidays that you love and become very attached to.
If this is the case for you, then don’t be afraid to make your whole design about featuring that item!
I’m obsessed with these ceramic love birds and think they make the perfect centerpiece to this classic country style tray.
7. Candy Jar
Credit: @danielle_grace_home
Because would it even be celebrating Valentine’s Day if you didn’t have some candy to show for it?
If there’s one thing about me, it’s that I’m going to take every excuse I can get to have candy sitting out in dishes ready for me to eat that I can get.
Pop a cute jar or two onto your tray and fill with red, pink, and white jellybeans or MnM’s!
8. Wintery Hearts
Credit: @dining_delight
I live in South Dakota and Valentine’s Day is very much still a winter holiday here.
Because of this, it doesn’t feel quite right to retire all of the wintery decor that was put up around Christmas just yet.
This winter themed Valentine’s Tray is absolutely stunning and the perfect way to recycle some of your pine branches and garlands from the holidays!
9. Touch of Blue
Credit: @vickymami8482
Sometimes the easiest way to create a unique vignette for your tray is to use a color that doesn’t fit within the holiday’s pallette.
Everyone has seen a Valentine’s tray done up in red and pink, but most people probably haven’t seen one with bright blue birds on it!
Don’t be afraid to use out of the norm colors on your tray. Just be sure to tie in the theme using hearts or flowers reminiscent of Vday!
10. Minimalist Wood Accents
Credit: @evergracedesigns
For the homemaker who can’t quite get themself to embrace bright colors, this is the tiered tray option for you.
Just because you don’t want to fill your countertops with bright reds and neon pinks doesn’t mean you can’t participate in the festivities!
Take a minimalist approach by choosing just three or four pieces that you really love in muted tones to create a subtle and sweet design that doesn’t overwhelm.
11. Kitchen Themed
Credit: @amysfarmhousestyle
If you’re tiered tray tends to live in or near your kitchen, then have some fun with it by incorporating cute kitchen themed items.
Thinks mugs, baking rollers, kitchen towels, cutting boards, or any other cute mini or themed kitchen item you stumble upon.
Obviously, this particular tray is meant to be decorative and not functional, but it would be pretty fun to have it be functional as well!
12. Fabric Hearts
Credit: @blakebydesign
I’ve been really into sewn fabric decor pieces recently with these plush hearts being the perfect example.
They’re easy to DIY so you have the advantage of being able to choose the size, pattern, and color of every heart on your tray.
There’s something about them that feels so effortlessly cozy and country farmhouse that I just can’t get enough!
13. Stunning Neutrals

Not everyone is a fan of red or pink, but that doesn’t mean that Valentine’s Day has to become a holiday that you just stop decorating for!
You can find plenty of lovely and fun decor items that may not have been advertised for Valentine’s Day, but when put together really embody the theme.
Think anything floral or with hearts and some kind of sign that includes the word love on it.
14. Valentines Village
Credit: @dining_delight
Everyone has heard of the classic Christmas village, but has anyone stopped to wonder why we only do them on Christmas?
I love the look of a decorative village, and I think it’s time to drip that tradition into the surrounding holidays, don’t you?
For a Valentine’s Day village, just buy classic white buildings and pieces then customize them with painted on accents in red and pink!
15. Crochet Cupcakes
Credit: @blakebydesign
Earlier in the list I mentioned using candy and sweets jars as decor on your tray, but if you live with pets or children, this might be the better option!
Instead of having open jars that little hands and snouts can be getting into at all times of the day, get the same sweet feel with decorative treats.
I’ve been seeing these crochet cupcakes on a lot of trays this year and for good reason. They’re absolutely adorable and make a fun Valentine’s Day craft!
16. Rustic Browns
Credit: @heartofwendy
The world is officially moving away from millennial gray and cool toned color palettes in favor of warm browns and beiges.
I’ve always been a lover of brown palettes, so this is really my time to shine as a homeowner and designer!
I’m obsessed with this simple and elegant tiered tray that incorporates a lot of natural textures and homemade pieces to achieve that rustic look.
17. Scrabble Letters
Credit: @ourdiyfarmhouse_sc
Most everyone I know has the game scrabble laying around somewhere in their home never being used.
Instead of waiting for the day that someone will want to magically play the game, use the letters instead for your decor!
This is such cute idea to line the letter holder with x’s and o’s to make a one of a kind Valentine’s Day decor piece!
18. White Base
Credit: @sumanmcdonald_design
For the owners of stunning all white kitchens out there who want to keep that clean look in their home but still want a touch of festivities.
You have to try this white based tiered tray design!
Take a white tray, add in some white hearts and bead garland with a couple of white doves to top it off. Then add just one or two red or pink Vday trinkets to make the white really pop.
19. Cute Figurines
Credit: @allthedayscreations
When it comes to designing tiered trays, I honestly think this is the easiest way to do it!
It can get expensive to buy all kinds of hearts, flowers, and garlands in different shapes and sizes.
Instead buy four or five larger trinkets that look cute next to each other to fill out the empty spaces.
20. Burlap Banners
Credit: @sayitinburlap
A touch of burlap makes everything homier and cozier if you ask me!
I’m a sucker for a good burlap garland because not only will it always look great and add charm to your decor, but it’s also incredibly easy to make and personalize!
All you need is a sheet of burlap and one or two paints in your color palette to create you very own adorable garland piece.
21. Foliage and Roses
Credit: @foreversonflowersandmore
I actually can’t believe that we didn’t talk about roses until idea number twenty-one, but we finally made it!
Everyone knows that roses are great for Valentine’s Day, but roses can get so expensive so fast.
Get the same effect without spending over one hundred dollars on a fresh bouquet by adorning your tiered tray with fake blooms instead.
22. Wooden Arrows
Credit: @birchlanebyjennifer
Cupid’s arrows never looked cuter or more chic than this!
What I love about investing in wooden decor pieces like these is they will last you a long time, and can easily be incorporated into other areas of your home in different seasons.
Try adding visual interest by keeping some of your wooden arrows raw, then painting some white or even pink!
23. Sweet Snowmen
Credit: @homespunfelts
This idea will definitely be dependent upon where you live because some places will already be in spring this time of year!
Not where I live though. I used to live in South Carolina for a brief time and I’ll never forget moving back to the midwest in February by leaving spring and entering winter.
If you’re in one of the winter states, then how cute are these festive little love snowmen??
24. Purple and Pink
Credit: @myhouseofcarters
I absolutely love red and pink, but they’ve gotten a little too much love on this list so far.
Time to introduce the third and maybe best Valentine’s Day color: purple!
Using purple instead of red on your tiered tray is a surefire way to have a unique display that will leave your guests in love.
25. Candies and Treats
Credit: @timmycareyhome
Had to finish off the list with another suggestion to bring candy into your design.
If you can’t tell, I have a horrible sweet tooth that translates into everything I do.
Skip the jars and dishes entirely and just display the candy straight on the tray for easiest access!
