One of my favorite things about the holiday season from October all the way through January 1st is the many excuses to throw themed dinner parties.

There are few things in life better than that!
As you can imagine, because I love them so much, I like to go all out with my tablescapes and decor.
For a holiday like Halloween, you have the permission to go a little crazy and a little kooky with your Halloween dinner party decor.

I’ll be the first to admit that black and orange can be a very jarring color combo. It doesn’t have to be your only choice, though!
Opt for a black and white theme instead and things can be just as spooky as ever.
Extend the theme to your guest’s attire and have a black and white themed party from head to toe.

If you’re like me and love everything about fall and harvest decor, then don’t hesitate to incorporate it into your Halloween dinner party decor ideas!
Just be sure to add a spooky touch here and there like the designer in the photo above.
All it takes is a skeleton hand or some mummy gauze wrapped around your plates to turn this stunning harvest table into a Halloween harvest table.

Bring the dark and spooky woods right onto the table with this Halloween dinner party decor idea.
Centerpieces don’t have to be elaborate vignettes filled with many small accessories. Sometimes one (or two) large statement pieces is all it takes.
Add some height and visual interest to your tablescape with these stunning black artificial trees and branches.
5. Cute Graphic Plates
Credit: @amyspartyideas
Though I live for some scary and haunted Halloween decor, sometimes the spooky stuff just doesn’t fit your dinner party audience.
There’s a time and a place to be scary, and a time and place to be adorable! Some cute graphic plates that say “Trick or Treat” or “Happy Halloween” can do the bulk of the theme decorating for you.
Everyone is sure to love a bright colorful place setting and this idea is perfect if you have younger kids attending your dinner party.
6. Wine Rebranded

How fun is this wine decanter idea for a Halloween dinner party? Simply create a custom poison label for your glass decanter and let the fun commence.
If there is a time to ignite your guest’s childlike imagination, it’s Halloween.
This decor idea is sure to illicit plenty of fun jokes and bits throughout the night as everyone sips on poison until they start to feel a little “funny”!
7. Cauldrons as Chafing Dishes

Creating a beautiful and fun tablescape for your themed dinner party doesn’t have to mean buying a million little things.
If you put your effort and funds into great statement pieces, decorating around them becomes easy.
That’s what makes these pewter cauldrons such an effective decor idea. Not only will they keep your dishes warm throughout dinner, but they truly establish the theme!
8. Cute Graphics and Cards

Emphasize the “treat” in trick or treat for your guests with some cute table favors that double as decor!
As you prepare for your dinner, pick up any little items with pumpkins, jack-o-lanterns, or skulls that would make cute party favors for your guests.
Placing a chocolate bar on their place setting not only brightens up the entire table, but also ties into the spirit of trick or treating by offering your guests a piece of candy to start.
9. Skeletal Centerpiece

I love a bold and slightly whimsical centerpiece and this skull wearing a bright orange witch hat is absolutely doing it for me.
Halloween is a great holiday to be a little kooky and strange with your dinner party decor.
So whether it’s a life-size skull, a large jack-o-lantern, or maybe a statue of a cat, why not place a witch hat atop its head?
10. Black Base With Orange Accents

If you’re not the type of person who likes decor that’s too on the nose, then using a color scheme is a great alternative.
Nothing on this table (ignore the skeleton) is particularly themed by itself, but pairing the rich black tablecloth and candles with bright orange flowers is an unmistakable look.
Color scheming is a great way to keep your Halloween dinner party decor looking elevated and elegant instead of kitschy or childlike.
11. Happy Halloween Banners

One of my favorite ways to decorate around the holidays is using banners like the ones in the photo above!
They’re incredibly easy to DIY, they make for great photo backdrops, and are a great budget friendly option.
Your banners will look best if you layer two or three different types on top of each other to mix colors, patterns, and shapes.
12. Themed Balloons

I’m obsessed with this stunning gold themed table from the metallic pumpkins and gourds to the entirely gold plated skull.
Paired with the twinkly lights and tea candles, this tablescape is absolutely glowing with Halloween glamour.

Oftentimes, the best way to decorate for any fall holiday is to simply scavenge outside and see what’s beautiful!
It’s great for the planet and your wallet to rely on the leaves, gourds, and grasses you can find in your own backyard for your Halloween dinner party decor.
Just be sure to throw in some bones or maybe a fake tarantula or two to remind your guests that this ain’t no Thanksgiving dinner.
15. Disco Day of the Dead

I mean a dinner party is a party after all, right? Why not make it a disco party?
If shiny and glittery golds aren’t your style, you can achieve the same glitz with silver accents like this beautiful table pictured above.
Using disco balls, gorgeous crystal goblets, and even utilizing your silverware, you can create a stunning disco day of the dead!

For Halloween, put together a bouquet of black dried florals and foliage for a spooky and dramatic look your guests will love.
22. Colorful Neon Pumpkins

Classic Halloween decor isn’t very girly pop, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make it that way with our color palette!
Paint your pumpkins sunset colors with pinks, sherbets, and creams for this adorable and feminine Halloween dinner party decor.
Bonus points if you paint your plates and napkins to to match your new Halloween color palette.
23. Ghost-y Napkins
Credit: @lemondropsnlilies
For the ultimate easy and lazy table decor hack, use your cloth napkins to create tiny ghosts on your place settings.
You can either use sharpie to draw the faces on each napkin, or if you want to save your linens, cut out the faces with construction paper and use double sided tape.
Notice the smaller ghosts atop each champagne glass to add another ghoulish layer to your decor!
