When it comes to this period in time right after the holidays, when winter is in full force, there’s nothing I crave more than a cozy bedroom. The wind is freezing outside, and all I want is to feel like I’m warm in a cabin somewhere in the mountains.
I have always gravitated to a rustic decor style, but I go all out in the winter. From plaid prints to raw wood furniture and everything in between, my house is going to feel like a rustic cabin no matter where it is.
If you’re wanting to apply a rustic decor style to your home, a bedroom is the perfect place to start. There’s opportunities galore for cozy bedding and patterned textiles.
Even BETTER if the bedrooms in your house are small! I love small bedrooms because it is much easier for a smaller room to feel cozy and warm.
These 20 ideas will help you get started with your cabin bedroom decor, but first let’s address the common elements of rustic cabin decor. Once we have a fuller understanding of what we’re trying to achieve, the rest is easy!
Rustic Cabin Bedroom Decor Design Trends
Natural Materials:
The best and truly only way to achieve an authentic log cabin feel in your home is to search for natural materials. We want the furniture to appear handmade, the blankets to appear handwoven, and so on.
When you’re shopping for decor, look for raw edge wood, jute or wool, leathers, faux furs, and wicker/rattan.
Styling with natural elements makes your life easy because they look beautiful layered together, and the color schemes usually compliment each other well.
Color Scheme
Speaking of color schemes, it’s best to stick with earthy tones and colors found in nature! My approach is to keep my large furniture pieces neutral, and add pops of color in my accessories.
Great places to add color include throw pillows on the bed, in curtains or rugs, plants and flowers throughout the space, and other smaller details throughout your cabin bedroom decor.
Rustic Feel
Rustic feel can be a hard idea to pin down. You’ll see a lot of different interpretations of what rustic means and looks like throughout Pinterest and decor blogs.
My approach to including a rustic feel in my home is to avoid buying anything that looks too pristine or brand new. I want everything to feel a little lived in and used.
The easiest way to achieve this look is by shopping second at antique stores and flea markets. It can be challenging to find good rustic items when shopping new.
Now that we feel confident about what we’re looking for when shopping, let’s look at 20 cabin bedroom decor ideas for inspiration!

Like I always say, throw pillows are one of the easiest and best places to start when trying to transform the decor style of your space.
They’re affordable, customizable, and make a huge difference in the way a room looks.
For your cabin bedroom decor, achieve that warm and cozy look by layering tons of throw pillows of different sizes and textures on your bed.
2. Wood Paneling
Obviously not every person who wants to feel like they’re in a log cabin is going to actually own a house made of wood.
That doesn’t mean you can’t live out your cabin bedroom decor dreams, though!
The best way to achieve that cabin feel is going to be applying tongue and groove wood paneling to the walls. This may seem like a labor intensive project, but it’s surprisingly easy and will instantly give you that lodge feel.

If however you are lucky enough to have some nature and greenery outside your window, I highly recommend placing your bed right underneath it!

The best part about cabins is feeling reconnected with the world around you so emulate that feeling as much as you can in your small bedroom.
7. Minimalist
Log cabins have the upperhand on design aesthetic because often the wood in the walls and beams is so beautiful on its own.
If you have natural wood in your space already, don’t detract from its natural beauty by doing too much with your decor.
Add a couple cozy textiles, a plant, and some twinkly lights to bring out the rustic feel of your room instead of covering it.
8. Rustic Patterns

They’re incredibly soft and warm, plus they add beautiful visual interest and texture to your bed.
10. Handmade Quilts
I’m calling it that homemade and patchwork quilts are going to be a huge design trend this upcoming year.

Quilts are SO BEAUTIFUL and will make your bed the stunning focal point of your room.
